FOUNDER/LEAD TRAINER

Hi I'm Shade Henderson, the founder ShadyTreeCanines!

When I was a child I was always fascinated with dogs, I would sit and watch them and just admire their behaviours and actions. I'd always try to imagine what they were thinking. this relationship with dogs carried on throughout my life; I always created an instant friendship with any pup that came into my life. Through the years of being an Electrician I came to notice my favourite work days were the days there was a dog on site.

After a surgery I had, I was given a 6 month rehabilitation from work and this was when I realized my true love and passion towards Dog Behavioural studies. I dove into it head first! Ever since then my studying has and never will stop! I LOVE to research all things Dog.

Though, I study all forms of Dog Training I only practice Positive Reinforcement training as I personally believe that by building a pure and loving relationship with our dogs, we are able to have more control and happiness in our relationship. I love working with families and my favourite part of my job is seeing the smile a client gets from the progress in their Dog!

My hobbies outside of work are Hiking, Kayaking, and adventuring with my wife and dog Kahlua!

CHILLIWACK LEAD TRAINER

Hi I am Ally Dunn! I am fairly new to the Chilliwack area, as I relocated from Manitoba after completing my BSc in Biology in the summer of 2022. After working in the animal care and veterinary industry for over 8 years, I wanted to do more to help our canine companions. It wasn’t until I started working with a positive reinforcement based dog training company in Winnipeg where I discovered my passion for training. While I was still completing my Biology degree, I accepted a position as an apprentice dog trainer and it changed my life! I loved watching dogs and their owners succeed. I worked extensively with reactive, fearful, and over excited dogs and began reading up and researching canine behaviour and psychology. Learning about how dogs experience and interact with the world around them is fascinating! I am very passionate about helping canines and their owners live their best lives and enjoy teaching people about effective, ethical training methods that make learning fun and easy. After many books, webinars, behavioural studies and research articles, I reached out to Shade to begin pursuing dog training as a career.

OFFICE MANAGER

Hi I'm Natalia Rus, the office manager at ShadyTreeCanines!

As the office manager, I get to communicate with clients and set them up for training. Conversations with clients are wonderful as I get to learn about their journey with their dog(s). I get so excited for each clients learning journey and success with ShadyTreeCanines. I adore dogs and I am grateful that I get to attend sessions on occasion.

I never knew how beautiful dog training could truly be until I watched Shade's process work with so many clients and their dogs. Observing training has been so fascinating and quickly I realized why Shade fell in love with Canine Psychology. There is so many answers for why dogs react the way they do when we cut down to the basics of psychology. The success and happiness ShadyTreeCanines brings to people and their dogs makes me so proud to work for them.

My hobbies outside of work are snowboarding, kayaking, rock climbing, and hiking. Nature fuels my soul!

VISION

When Shade got into this line of work he came across so many statistics on shelters and euthanasias in North America, these stats were so disheartening for him.

So many dogs were either in shelters or put down. He realized that they were often there because the previous "Owner" could not take proper care of them. Whether it is that the Dog is too "Reactive", "Aggressive" or "Too Energetic"...

After doing studies in Dog Behaviour and Training he realized how many Dogs could avoid these harsh outcomes if they had the proper Care, Exercise and Training!

He made it his goal to help the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver Area keeping as many dogs out of shelters, reducing potential euthanasias,  and providing dogs a Happier and Healthier Life!!!
